Title 1 and Basic Skills Program

Title I Program

Welcome to the Title I website.  Here you will be able to locate information on the programs that will be offered at Memorial School.  Please feel free to browse around and contact us with any questions.

 IMPORTANT REMINDERS

  • The Title 1/Basic Skills Letters will always go out to the parents in late September or early October each school year. Your child will receive a letter for extra support if your child is struggling academically in reading. Our main assessment utilized to determine if a child is eligible is our Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA), which is a comprehensive assessment that takes into consideration a student's ability to recognize common sight words and decode words. This assessment also takes into consideration a student's reading fluency and comprehension skills.
  • The students will be reassessed using a Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA) in January. If the student has met the academic criteria then the student would graduate from our program. If the student still needs more academic support then he or she would remain in the program.
  • Please know a child can always reenter our program if we find that he or she is struggling with academic content in future years.
